One Solution to Bring Peace

Our Mutual Purpose as Humans

At this momentous time in human history, let’s take a moment to think about our next step. Humans are training to be conscious creators who are able to work with divine laws. At present we may be only children in this process, but we have the potential to be full creators. We are created by God to succeed in this task and not to fail.

Our success depends on our ability to understand that our personal success is inextricably linked to what happens to all other humans and all other beings on this planet. This is the task of the next two thousand years of the Aquarian age.

Where do we Start?

The best place to start is to see ourselves as a member of the human family living presently on Earth, and to ensure that we are dividing our collective resources fairly amongst all members. Without this perspective there will never be peace and co-operation because some people will always want more for themselves than what they share with others. This desire will lead to war and conflict with our brothers and sisters.

To understand the current situation of terrorism and war in which we find ourselves, it is helpful to understand the inequity that exists between “developed” and “undeveloped” countries. For lasting peace on our planet this inequity needs to end. I, for one, believe that this is possible and that the sooner we, in the western world, do this the better.

The Sierra Club has some interesting facts that can help us to understand this inequity. If we could shrink the Earth’s population to a village of precisely 100 people with all existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look like this:

There would be:

•            57 Asians

•            21 Europeans

•            14 from the Western Hemisphere (North and South)

•            8 Africans.

•            51 would be female

•            49 would be male.

•            70 would be non white

•            30 would be white.

•            70 would be non Christian

•            30 would be Christian.

•            50% of the entire world’s wealth would be in the hands of only 6 people

and all 6 would be citizens of the United States.

•            80 of these 100 people would live in substandard housing.

•            70 would be unable to read.

•            50 would suffer from malnutrition.

•            1 person would be near death

•            1 person would be near birth.

•            Only 1 would have a college education.

When we consider our world from such an incredibly compressed perspective, we see how very interconnected we are. The need for reallocation of our present resources becomes glaringly apparent. For this to occur a fundamental change needs to happen in our hearts. We must learn–as the Buddhists say–to love everyone as we do our own mother and to realize that what affects one of us affects us all. This is not a new idea. In fact, it has been around for a long time as witnessed by Dante’s words seven hundred years ago which are as relevant today as they were then. I leave you with them and wish you all the best in this challenging time.

The Love of God, unutterable and perfect

flows into a pure soul the way that light

rushes into a transparent object.

The more love that it finds,

the more it gives itself;

so that, as we grow clear and open,

the more complete the joy of heaven is.
